The Pulmonary Diagnostic Division of Respiratory Care Services at the University of Maryland Medical Center supports the Interventional Pulmonary Procedure and Pulmonary Diagnostic Testing Services. Both areas are on the cutting edge of technology utilizing best practices in Interventional Pulmonology, Critical Care, Lung Transplantation, and Conventional Pulmonary Diagnostic Service lines. Our procedural and testing areas allow for the diagnostic and therapeutic treatment modalities of patients with pulmonary disease states. Within the Pulmonary Diagnostic division, the Pulmonary Respiratory Therapist at UMMC will provide exceptional support to the department and care to a specific inpatient and outpatient population in a multidisciplinary setting.

The Pulmonary Function Diagnostic area is a very active adult and pediatric service line. Our team supports a cutting edge of current testing technologies to include standard pulmonary function diagnostic spirometry testing, specialized diagnostic airways testing, protocol driven exercise challenges, and specific oxygen titration assessments. Our well-equipped testing suites allow for the diagnostic and therapeutic treatment modalities of pulmonary and cardiac disease states. Within the Pulmonary Function Diagnostic area, the Pulmonary Function Respiratory Therapist at UMMC provides exceptional patient care to a specific inpatient and outpatient population.
What you will do :
As a practicing Respiratory Therapist (RT) you will work along with the dynamic team of RT’s. You are supported by board certified Pulmonologists and Pulmonary Fellows. Utilizing best Respiratory and clinical practices, you will be responsible for the overall patient care. Care to include function testing, patient evaluation, and monitoring patient’s during specialized testing. Employing your Respiratory and clinical skills is essential. You will educate patients, their disease, and instruct them with regards to their medications. You will partner with nursing units and service lines to coordinate patient care across the medical center to enhance the patient’s overall experience.
What you will need to be successful :
A graduate of an AMA approved program by the NBRC in Respiratory Therapy required. Active Maryland Respiratory licensure required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required. In addition to RRT, RPFT or CPFT credential is preferred. The Respiratory Therapist shall have 2-3 years clinical experience, outpatient setting and ACLS certification preferred. The Respiratory Therapist candidate will need to possess excellent people skills, ability to coordinate patient flow in a dynamic outpatient care setting, strong leadership skills and deliver passionate patient care.
