Job Summary :

Key Responsibilities :

(Technician II will perform duties under direct supervision and guidance. Technician III will perform duties independently.)

Dispatches Police Officers, Security Officers, and other personnel to assist community members by gathering information via phone, radio, computers, alarms, and monitors.

Monitors alarmed areas, fire systems, cameras, other local police agencies, and area weather conditions by viewing and listening to computers, video monitors, printers, and radios.

Processes, enters, maintains, and distributes police records.

Obtains, dispatches, enters, and cancels crime information on vehicles, persons, and property by using the computer to access the CCIC / NCIC.

Initiates confirmation of warrants and coordination of in-custody transports.

Position operates various equipment daily and reports malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor or personnel.

As a Dispatcher, you play a key role along with our officers in keeping the campus safe. You'll take calls from the public, dispatch officers to incidents, monitor alarms and cameras. While you must be prepared for any emergency, we don't experience high call volumes. You have the time to develop relationships with colleagues in our tight-knit department. Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

Technician II : Two (2) years of experience in police radio / telephone communications equipment operations.

Technician III : Three (3) years of experience in police radio / telephone communications equipment operations.

Substitution : A combination of directly related education and / or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Colorado law requires that candidates for state government jobs be residents of Colorado at the time of application.

Preferred Qualifications :

Associate's degree or higher in communications, criminal justice, or a field of study directly related to the work assigned.

Two (2) years of experience in police radio / telephone communications equipment operations within the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus Police Department (CUPD).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Anticipated Pay

The starting salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established as :

Technician II : $54,470 - $63,696

Technician III : $63,055 - $70,687

This position is eligible for overtime compensation.

External Candidates are eligible for a one-time non-base building hiring bonus of up to $5000 or 10% of starting annual salary . 1st half of the bonus eligibility will begin on start date, the 2nd half of the bonus will be paid after completion of the in-house training program. In addition to the base salary, this position is eligible for a base-building salary increase of $2,000.00 upon successful and satisfactory completion of the Communications Training Officer Program and fulfillment of associated performance expectations.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

If you have prior state-classified service in the same class series as this position, your pay may be set at a higher amount per the state Step Pay Program implemented on July 1, 2024.
