OpCo Finance Director
To be a primary business partner to the Operating Company (OpCo) President(s) at assigned operating companies in setting financial goals and strategies across the organization. This position is responsible for assigned organizations' financial planning and management, understanding root cause and mitigation efforts around shrink and spoilage, providing business insight and recommendations to drive achievement of the division's business plan, ensuring proper internal controls and procedures are established and followed, and for safeguarding the assets of the OpCo(s). This role reports to the VP, Finance and is a key member of the broader Finance team, which includes FP&A, Strategic Finance, and Accounts Receivable. Together, these functions collaborate to support the company's overall financial strategy.
Responsibilities include developing annual strategic and financial business plans for OpCo's in collaboration with the management team and corporate, ensuring expense leverage throughout the OpCo's by reviewing and making recommendations for savings in expense areas including warehouse, delivery and general departments, communicating any material change to forecast / budget as soon as known, reviewing financial results, including revenue and expense trends, with OpCo's management team and making recommendations for corrective action to mitigate variances from plan, monitoring inventory management systems, policies and procedures to protect asset value, providing ad hoc analysis as needed to support Opco Presidents, utilizing corporate support when needed, direct involvement in period-end close and balance sheet reconciliations, and managing a team of associates located within multiple OpCo's.
Desired skills include solid knowledge of accounting, financial analysis and forecasting, an analytical mind with a strategic approach, excellent organization and leadership skills, outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, ability to present to a wide range of audiences and capable of being persuasive effectively at the highest levels in the company, a self-starter that builds and maintains strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders in functions and teams across the business, ability to work effectively with large amounts of data, drill down into details and provide incisive high level overviews; extreme attention to details, demonstrated history of direct operational involvement with a willingness to get involved to learn the operations and to help solve problems, and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, professional accounting designation preferred, and ability to travel up to 50%.
