Our Analytics & Insights team is dedicated to solving complex healthcare challenges and improving patient outcomes. The team empowers business partners across Commercial, Medical, and Government Affairs (CMG) to make impactful decisions by leveraging data, analytics, and AI / ML to enable fast, targeted actions in rapidly evolving business contexts.

This team fosters a unified understanding of customers, actions, and outcomes by integrating analytics and insights seamlessly into CMG’s evolving digital, data, and automation platforms, creating scalable solutions and eliminating silos.

You will work as a trusted, objective advisor and expert, recommending critical decisions and actions to be taken with credibility and a focus on driving measurable impact. Job Summary

The Executive Director, Field Analytics & Insights within Analytics and Insights team collaborates with regional leadership to deliver actionable analytics and insights, enabling data-driven decision-making to optimize business performance. This role focuses on addressing the unique needs of healthcare ecosystem teams by leveraging advanced analytics to align strategies, identify growth opportunities, and enhance operational effectiveness across markets.

Key Job Responsibilities

Collaborate with and advise SVP of Customer Engagement (CE), SVP of Medical, HEDs (Healthcare Ecosystem Directors), MEDs (Medical Executive Directors), Head of Medical field, and RVPs (Regional Vice Presidents) to deeply understand business needs, trends, challenges, and key questions, ensuring that overall US insights and analytics service delivery aligns with TA, portfolio, access, and field objectives, and other relevant long-term goals.

Accountable for defining the strategic direction and vision for overall analytics as applied to current and anticipated CE / Field priorities and evolving business requirements; collaborate with stakeholder group leaders (up to and including SVP) to define and set service level expectations in line with CE / Field and TA priorities.

Lead the Field Analytics & Insights team to deliver national / regional-level insights with robust analytics (e.g., market- and product-specific industry trends, sales performance, sales outlook, product demand outlook, targeting and call planning optimization, sizing, field effectiveness analysis and performance reporting).

Accountable to deliver the strategy, governance, and process management for field incentive compensation.

Integrate and connect insights across markets to enable strategic alignment, highlight best practices, and deliver value-driven analytics for regional execution and impact.

Standardize and streamline field analytics; partner with analytics product teams, providing input to refine analytics product priorities and capabilities, ensuring alignment with evolving stakeholder needs and analytics outputs.

Contribute to continuous organizational improvement by leading change efforts, both proactively within their group and in conjunction with other CMG / Genentech groups, and by sharing best practices, identifying opportunities for automation, and enhancing the efficiency and impact of analytic workflows.

Lead and mentor a team of insights and analytics employees, fostering professional growth, enhancing both consultative skills and technical skills such as data literacy and data analytics.

Adheres to compliance standards and maintains Genentech / Roche’s license to operate & comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities.

Minimum Candidate Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's Degree (preferably in general business administration, finance, economics, engineering, mathematics, statistics, operations research, or health science discipline).

Work experience for 15 or more years. Work experience in strategy, planning, and / or operations management for 10 or more years in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related industries (could include related consulting experience).

10+ years of people management experience. Large diverse team leadership and people management skills.

Deep expertise in commercial field analytics (e.g., targeting and call planning optimization, incentive compensation, next best action, sizing, field effectiveness analysis and performance reporting, impact measurement); must demonstrate proficiency in advanced analytics methods (e.g., predictive modeling, segmentation, time-series analysis) and modern tools (e.g., Python, SQL, cloud platforms, BI visualization tools).)

Proven track record of driving measurable business impact, change management and user adoption in complex matrixed environments.

Extensive experience working with data science, machine learning, and AI teams and supercharge analytics capabilities and impact.

Robust communication, presentation, and organization skills.

Financial acumen and the skillset to manage budgets and tactical plans.

This position is based in South San Francisco, CA and relocation benefits are available

T he expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $227,500 - $422,500 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
