VP Operations - Mechanical Turnaround, Maintenance and Construction - Petrochem
Our client is launching a new business unit spin-out focused on providing turnaround, maintenance, and capital construction services to the petrochemical and chemical manufacturing sectors . With a solid foundation of technical expertise, a strong safety culture, and an entrepreneurial spirit, the company aims to become a trusted, high-performance partner to major chemical producers along the Gulf Coast.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Vice President to lead, grow, and strategically shape this newly formed business unit. The ideal candidate will be an experienced executive with a deep understanding of industrial services—particularly in the petrochemical, refining, or heavy industrial sectors—and a proven record of P&L management, business development, and operational excellence
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for driving sustainable growth, building organizational capability, and ensuring exceptional service delivery to clients in a competitive and safety-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the growth strategy for the new business unit, establishing the company as a leader in turnaround, maintenance, and construction services across the Gulf Coast.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with petrochemical and chemical manufacturing clients—particularly within Louisiana—to secure long-term contracts and expand market share.
- Oversee project execution, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining the highest quality standards.
- Lead P&L oversight, budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking to achieve profitability and growth objectives.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team capable of scaling operations efficiently and safely.
- Champion a culture of safety and regulatory compliance in all aspects of field and project operations.
- Identify strategic partnerships, technology advancements, and process improvements to drive competitive advantage and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field (MBA preferred).15+ years of progressive leadership experience in turnaround, maintenance, or EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction) services within the petrochemical or refining industries.Demonstrated success leading a regional or business unit P&L with full accountability for growth and operations.Strong existing network across the Gulf Coast petrochemical market , particularly in Louisiana.If this role could be of interest, please reach out to Edward Yardley for a confidential call to discuss (edward.yardley@gryphonoakwood.com).
