Job Summary
The Crew Leader coordinates and directs all line crew activities with construction, materials, and the establishment of electrical distribution and transmission across PEMC's service territory. As a working Foreman, this position performs a variety of duties to ensure the construction process of erecting and repairing distribution and transmission lines of all voltage classes is successfully completed, while leading all assigned line crew(s) through these projects.
Essential Duties :
- Leads crew(s) to perform proper construction and maintenance practices as well as power restoration throughout the electrical distribution system
- Coordinates all work activities and performs on-the-job training for crew members
- Oversee the responsible and safe operation and maintenance of all assigned tools and equipment used by the assigned crew(s)
- Ensure all crews are working effectively and safely at all times
- Oversee and direct power restoration, occasionally in inclement and extreme weather conditions
- Participate in Operations' on-call rotation as scheduled and in emergency power restoration events as needed
- Complete and review timesheets, appraisals, and evaluations for direct reports
- Review and complete (as needed) : staking sheets, inspection reports, vehicle inspections, accident, near miss, injury, and incident reports
- Follows through troubleshooting issues that may compromise effective job performance by using the appropriate processes and chain of command
- Additional duties as needed and assigned.
Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent education requiredCompletion of Electrical Line Worker Training ProgramCurrent and valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with DOT Medical Card. Required to maintain a clean driving record.BLS / CPR certification required5-7 years of lineman experience required; Supervisory experience strongly preferredExperience with operating and maintaining hand tools and heavy equipment requiredExperience with construction of overhead and underground electrical transmission lines requiredMust have the ability to complete Pole Top & Bucket Rescue emergencies in 5 minutes or lessSubstation repair and maintenance knowledge and skills are requiredMust have the ability to multi-task, prioritize, perform basic math, use critical thinking skills, and have excellent written and verbal communication techniquesMust be able to lift, push and pull 60+ lbs., and withstand working outdoors in a variety (occasionally hazardous and inclement) weather conditionsAbout Us
