JOB SUMMARY :

We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Contact Center Pharmacy Technician to join our clinical patient care team. This role is responsible for handling inbound and outbound calls with patients regarding prescription status, medication orders, refills, and other pharmacy-related inquiries. The ideal candidate will combine technical pharmacy knowledge with strong communication skills to deliver excellent patient support and ensure medication needs are met accurately and efficiently. Prior study in obtaining Medical Assistant certification is not a requirement, however, it is significant plus for this role.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

  • Handle incoming calls from patients regarding :
  • Prescription status and tracking
  • Order placement and processing
  • Refill and renewal requests
  • Medication delays, shortages, or user impact concerns
  • Place outbound calls to :
  • Notify patients of prescription readiness or issues
  • Confirm prescription details or insurance information
  • Follow up on refill requests or delayed orders
  • Assist with patient medication adherence and education
  • Document all interactions accurately in the pharmacy system
  • Coordinate with pharmacists, prescribers, and other healthcare providers as needed
  • Verify prescription and patient information according to company and state / federal guidelines
  • Support patients in navigating online portals, refill systems, or payment processes
  • Escalate complex issues to appropriate team members (e.g., clinical pharmacists, billing, etc.)
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, state board of pharmacy rules, and internal SOPs

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED :

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) or state licensure as required by applicable laws
  • Minimum 1 year of pharmacy technician experience (retail, mail-order, or call center preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations and prescription processing
  • Excellent phone etiquette and verbal communication skills. Inbound and outbound call experience to patients using automated call handling systems is a requirement.
  • Proficient in computer systems and electronic health records (EHR / pharmacy systems)
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment
  • Bilingual (Spanish / English) a plus
  • Work Environment & Schedule

  • Call center environment (on-site) – Contact Center Location in McDonough / Stockbridge, GA area (south of Atlanta)
  • M-F – with rotating Saturday or even Sunday options
  • May require evening or weekend shifts depending on coverage needs
