Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Float Pool position specializing in surgical and step-down patient care with night shift and traveler experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Position is based in a hospital float pool within a med / surg environment
  • Provides care to surgical inpatients, including those pre- and post-surgical, and some step-down patients
  • Population includes patients with ENT and / or transplant needs, new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGT or DHT
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are 5 or 6 : 1 for surgical cases and 3 or 4 : 1 for step-down cases
  • Position requires working three 12-hour night shifts per week
  • Primary responsibilities include managing care for surgical and step-down patients, administering medications, monitoring physiologic data, and supporting minor diagnostic procedures
  • Must interact effectively with patients and families, including care planning and discharge processes
  • No local candidates accepted due to a 50-mile radius rule
  • Candidates will provide post-op care, manage IV infusions and blood products, and respond to changing patient conditions
  • Strong communication and ability to work collaboratively within the hospital team is expected

    • Requirements

  • Active Oklahoma or compact RN license required
  • At least 1 year of recent acute care surgical floor experience in a hospital setting
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Step-down experience required
  • Med / Surg and acute care surgical experience required; OR experience alone not accepted
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required
  • Associate's degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
