Under general supervision of the department manager, shift supervisor or designee, the Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of instruments in compliance with medical center policies and procedures, state, local and federal requirements.

Job Description
Under general supervision of the department manager, shift supervisor or designee, the Non-Certified Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of instruments in compliance with medical center policies and procedures, state, local and federal requirements.
Possessing an SPD-Relevant Certification (CRCST or CBSPD) with a minimum of 12 months of SPD experience, the Sterile Processing Technician II manages the reprocessing cycle for surgical instrumentation, including disassembly, decontamination, disinfection, inspection, testing, assembly, packaging, labeling, and sterilization. Cares for and operates ultrasonic cleaners, washers, sterilizers, and other equipment. Completes quality monitoring and documentation. Picks inventory management and clinic instrument rounds. Assists with mentoring, training, coaching, and role modeling for new Sterile Processing Technicians. Performs all duties with a commitment to excellence in quality and customer service. Performs other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Description
High School Diploma or GED, and certification through CRCST - HSPA (Healthcare Sterile Processing Association) or CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution).
