40hrs Monday through Friday 6 : 30-1700Weekend call rotational, about every 4th weekend, for 48hrs over Saturday and SundayWeekday call overnight once a week, rotational.Holidays call is rotationalJob SummaryReporting to the Clinical Nurse Manager of the Endoscopy Unit, provides care for diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterological equipment. Responsible for the quality and effectiveness of the Endoscopy Unit equipment. Provides technical assistance during procedures under direction of the physician.Job Functions Gathers appropriate instrumentation, supplies and equipment for procedure per gastroenterologist preferences.Sets-up cases in procedure rooms per schedule.Possesses knowledge of procedure and anticipates the gastroenterologists needs throughout the procedure.Prepares specimens correctly and accurately.Conducts breakdown of cases post-procedure and manually cleans scope per policy.Prepares contaminated instrumentation for decontamination process by properly transferring and cleansing them, per Endoscopy policy, at the end of each procedure.Conducts terminal end sterilization / high level disinfection of endoscopic equipment per policy.Performs quality assurance testing of scope washers per policy.Maintains scope washers quality assurance log per policy.Troubleshoots scope washer equipment.Troubleshoots endoscopic equipment including endoscopes.Assists in the turnover of the procedure room to include washing of beds, overhead lights and removal of linen and trash.Provides cleaning and restocking Endoscopy Unit procedure rooms.Performs basic procedural cart set-up at end of day.Assists with transport of equipment and set-up of cases performed outside of the Endoscopy Unit.Maintains and orders general inventory stock, restocks rooms and supply closets.Collaborates with other health care professionals.Provides Charge Nurse with data such as malfunctioning of equipment, scope repair needs, and material management needs that affect the daily running of the Endoscopy schedule.Attends appropriate in-service and continuing education programs commensurate with the job responsibilities.Participates in regular on call rotation within the Endoscopy Unit, as certified in BLS provider.Participates in unit / hospital projects that seek to improve patient care.Acts as a resource for others regarding equipment.Maintains and supports patients rights to care, privacy and respect.Other duties as assigned from time to timeEducation : High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program strongly preferred.Sterile processing training course strongly preferred. BLS requiredCertificate of completion from accredited surgical technology program preferred.(IAHCSMM) or (CBSPD) and SGNA preferred
