Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring a MO or compact RN license, with strong skills in high-acuity perinatal care and night shift availability.
Responsibilities
Work in a combined Labor & Delivery and Postpartum unit within a hospital settingUnit manages antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients with 33 beds, including dedicated labor, postpartum, and triage roomsPatient-to-nurse ratios are typically 1 : 1 for laboring patients, may be 1 : 2 or 1 : 3 for antepartum or cervical ripening, per AWHONN acuity standardsAverage daily census is 7-10 patients and facility averages 200-300 births per monthShifts are night (3x12 hours, 18 : 45-07 : 15), with 4-5 weekend shifts every 6 weeks and requirement for 2 Sunday night and 2 Friday day shifts in each 6-week scheduleTwo on-call shifts per 6-week period requiredFloating may be required to the postpartum unit to provide couplet care or postpartum-only careLDRP experience is preferred, but L&D or LDR experience will be consideredEpic charting with PeriWatch fetal monitoring application and Phillips Avalon fetal monitors in usePrimary responsibilities include managing complex labor, delivery, and postpartum cases including care for high-risk pregnancies and multi-gestational birthsMust maintain strict compliance with infection control / PPE protocols and medication administration per facility and unit policyTwo professional references are required (one from a supervisor or above, one may be a charge RN), both from within the last yearRTO is capped at 7 days during the contractPre-employment drug screen, background check, and compliance modules must be completed as outlinedNew travelers to L&D are not accepted; previous travel experience is requiredFirst-time travelers are not accepted for this unitRequirements
Active MO or compact RN license required at startCurrent BLS, FHM, and NRP certifications are requiredMinimum of 3 years recent L&D nursing experience required, with at least 1 year in specialty within the past 12 months and no gap over 90 days in the past yearProficiency with antepartum and intrapartum care, sterile procedures, management of high-risk obstetric conditions, and postpartum careExperience with both internal and external fetal monitoring, IUPC placement, and Epic EMR preferredMust live a minimum of 75 miles from the facility; local candidates not acceptedWillingness to float to postpartum as neededBenefits
