Senior Accountant
Kelly Wearstler is looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance and Accounting team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and proactive professional who thrives in a dynamic, creative environment and can independently handle end-to-end accounting activities.
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant is responsible for customer invoicing, project billing, month-end close, and financial reporting, while collaborating with the Controller to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement in our accounting systems and workflows.
This role requires a proactive, highly organized accounting professional who can manage day-to-day finance functions independently while supporting a fast-paced, creative studio environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage customer invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and month-end close activities.
- Prepare and post journal entries; perform balance sheet reconciliations and support timely, accurate financial statements.
- Maintain general ledger integrity, including project costing and revenue recognition within NetSuite.
- Process vendor bills and payments through Tipalti, ensuring accuracy and proper coding.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with design, procurement, and operations teams to ensure billing accuracy and alignment with project scopes.
- Communicate with clients on invoicing, statements, and payment-related questions in a clear and professional manner.
- Support financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and explanations of variances to plan.
- Drive process automation and system improvements leveraging Excel, NetSuite saved searches, Notion, and AI tools.
- Support audit requests, compliance reviews, and year-end reporting, including coordination and document preparation for the annual review.
- Troubleshoot accounting and software issues in partnership with internal stakeholders and external vendors as needed.
- Lead and support initiatives to expand the use of AI and automation across Finance and Operations.
- Develop, refine, and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
- Provide support for tax audits and tax return preparation as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.58 years of progressive accounting experience; experience in retail, project-based, or professional services industries preferred.Strong working knowledge of NetSuite or an equivalent ERP system; experience with Tipalti, Avalara, Notion, or similar tools is a plus.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup functions.High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ownership of assigned responsibilities.Self-starter with proven ability to manage accounting functions independently and meet deadlines.Clear communicator with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Comfortable working across creative and executive teams and able to communicate financial information to a wide audience.Benefits Overview
