Job descriptionIntermediate skills : learn basic computer skills, good visual and hearing skills, follows procedures; good organizational skills Working in weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, etc.) Works with safety in mind must be flexible with work hours and willingness to travel up to 100% during the weekdays and occasional weekend travel and / or work, able to do physically demanding work Ability to lift and carry between 25 and 50 lbs. routinely Ability to walk for lengthy periods; wear shirt, long pants and boots as a minimum while on the job. 3+ H.S Graduate Driver's License Reviewing plans and specifications in preparation for field observations on construction sites. Conduct tests and investigations in the field or laboratory to obtain data used by engineering and technical personnel in determining physical properties of construction materials. Collect soil, asphalt, and concrete samples, prepare samples for testing, record data, and prepare summary report. Documenting field activities, observations, and testing results on projects. Perform laboratory and field tests according to prescribed procedures, processes, and standards. Use specialized equipment and apparatus to prepare analyses, reports and / or technical drawings. Communication of field and laboratory testing results with staff, contractors, and clients. None Can work independently or lead crews when necessary. Possess basic oral and written communication skills; interacts well with other staff, ability to function positively in a team environment. Ability to work in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and rugged terrain. Exposure to active construction sites. Capable of walking, hiking, or standing for extended periods during field and site visits. Must be able to lift and carry tools, equipment, technical samples, documents, and other materials weighing up to 40-50 pounds. Frequent bending, crouching, and climbing may be required during fieldwork and sample collection. Ability to safely operate and wear personal protective equipment (PPE), such as helmets, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and boots as required by site safety protocols. Visual acuity and manual dexterity to handle technical tools, read maps and instruments, observe site conditions, and document findings accurately. Comfortable working in remote or isolated locations, sometimes for extended durations. Comfortable working in confined spaces and / or at heights, as required by specific project sites. May require driving long distances to field sites and operating vehicles on unpaved or uneven roads. Description
GAI Consultants is seeking an Assistant Construction Technician 3 to perform construction inspection on a variety of Power Generation projects. The right candidate will be able to work based in the Reading PA area. The role will cover project-based locations within an approximate 4-hour distance. This position involves construction field inspection and testing of construction materials. Inspection areas include foundation inspection, concrete placement inspection, and quality control testing. Additional responsibilities included interpreting specifications and construction drawings and performing field testing of soils and concrete.
Job Duties
- Work with minor oversight after receiving appropriate training.
- Interface with clients and contractors on-site.
- Inspect foundations for adherence to specifications.
- Sample and test concrete for quality control.
- Complete forms and write inspection reports.
