Forwarding Officer

Summary POSTION SUMMARY : The Shipping Officer is responsible for the administrative handling of all shipments and operations within the Department of Physical Distribution. These actions relate to sales, preparation and operational phase, along with packaging, shipping preparation of the goods and also not directly on project related activities. Moreover, the Shipping Officer assists in the logistics process of projects transferred over to the Forwarding Department with no end responsibilities. He / She works to offer advice and assisting logistical plans with goods going to site. Dependable Professional with respect to complete small / or not complex domestic and export shipments, with low risk profile. He / She works as a business partner for the internal organization as well as the external stakeholders, including customers. By proactively acting, he / she relieves the customers and also manages the expectations of the parties involved.

Essential Functions (Job Duties and Responsibilities) :

  • Support the making of proper export documentation for the orders which are ready to send.
  • Determining the proper documentation for import and export shipments.
  • Supporting the Forwarding Department in the execution of orders.
  • Instructing and advising suppliers on logistics issues.
  • Solving Customs issues and finding alternatives.
  • Negotiating and selecting the appropriate carriers.
  • Local consultancy in the field of logistics, customs, import and export.
  • Training and coaching new employees and less experienced employees.
  • Working closely with Supply Chain and Procurement to determine best process and practices.
  • Providing export status to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Achieving desired output.
  • Attending logistical Open-up.
  • Assisting with ASUF review.

Required Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • At least two years of warehouse experience.
  • Valid Driver's License and Passport.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Microsoft Office expert (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • JD Edwards Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP).
  • Knowledge on transport, logistics and customs procedures.
  • Experienced traveling and working abroad.

  • Export experience Position.
  • Type / Expected Hours of Work : This is a full-time position. The work schedule is Monday through Friday. May be required to work long hours, weekends, and holidays based on business needs. This is an exempt position and ineligible for overtime.

    Travel : This position will occasionally require travel between 5-10%, with back-and-forth to the corporate office in Marietta, GA, including project sites, as needed. You may also be required to travel to the global office located in Veghel, Netherlands.

    Supervisory Responsibility : This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands : The work environment / physical requirements described here are representative of those the employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers to type; occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms; rarely required to climb, bend stoop, kneel, and / or crouch. The employee may occasionally need to lift and / or move up to between 10-50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception. Employee will be working in a warehouse / manufacturing environment. Temperature can vary : cold temperatures of 40 degrees, and will be required to wear jacket or warm / hot temperature of 70+ degrees. Noise levels of 90 decibels can be reached at certain times. Can be exposed to fumes or airborne particles while in manufacturing environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
