Statement of Purpose

The LVN plays a key role in supporting the health and well-being of patients by performing clinical tasks such as administering medications, monitoring vital signs, assisting with medical procedures, and documenting care in the electronic medical record.

Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review the client’s chart prior to medication administration to ensure accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Administer injections using proper sterile techniques in accordance with clinical standards.
  • Review of the most recent urine drug screen results for clients receiving Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
  • Obtain and record vital signs prior to medication administration.
  • Monitor the client briefly post-injection to observe for any immediate adverse reactions.
  • Document all procedures and observations accurately in the client’s electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Coordinate care with medication prescribers and other interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity and quality of care.

  • Assists and covers other staff when necessary to maintain high productivity and efficiency in the department.

  • Vision, hearing and manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination must be adequate for performance of job duties. Able to sit at desk, use keyboard, write and physically perform other job duties. Able to move about the facility to observe clients and staff.

    Requirements :

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a valid California driver license and liability insurance if driving personal vehicle on Center business. Generally short distances and reimbursement of mileage.
  • First Aid and CPR certification required and maintain current during employment.

  • Education :

  • Nursing program from an accredited school
  • Certificate as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensure
  • Experience :

  • At least 2 years as a nurse working in a healthcare setting
  • Computer literate : Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) required.
