The nurse will work collaboratively as part of a healthcare team. Solid written and oral communication skills are essential. Candidates must tolerate moderate to high stress levels. Experience with chest tubes, tracheostomy care, IV starts, and PCA pump management is required. The nurse will monitor patients with various medical conditions, including those requiring telemetry. Work will involve collaboration with a certified nursing assistant, receptionist, charge nurse, and phlebotomy staff. There will be 24 / 7 availability of respiratory therapy, hospitalists, and intensivists. The use of electronic medical records and medication dispensing systems will be expected. Flexibility to float to other medical-surgical units may be necessary. The nurse will observe holiday expectations, working a percentage of holidays as required. Weekend rotation is every other weekend. The schedule cycle operates on a six-week basis. Scrub color is royal blue. The unit culture emphasizes patient-centered care, reliability, and teamwork.
