Position Summary

The Spanish Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering high-quality instruction in Spanish language and culture. This role focuses on developing students' proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, writing, and interacting in Spanish. The teacher plays a key role in promoting biliteracy and cultural understanding in a diverse learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging Spanish instruction aligned with state and local curriculum standards.
  • Support students in developing academic language proficiency in all language domains : speaking, listening, reading, writing, and interaction.
  • Plan and implement lessons that incorporate modeling, guided practice, and opportunities for independent language use.
  • Provide clear language supports to ensure student comprehension and success.
  • Assign meaningful homework and provide timely, constructive feedback.
  • Design and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and growth.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
  • Support school-wide testing and assessments, including participation in WIDA initiatives.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, conferences, and professional development activities.
  • Manage classroom materials and inventory effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Secondary Education or related field
  • Missouri State Certification in Secondary Education
  • Bilingual (English / Spanish) proficiency required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to educational equity and serving historically underrepresented students
  • Professionalism and the ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Preferred Experience

  • 3+ years of teaching experience in urban or underserved school settings
  • Proven track record of improving academic outcomes for minority or low-income students
  • Experience with data-driven instruction and classroom technology
  • Familiarity with PowerSchool and / or WIDA frameworks
