Overview
We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Project Accountant to join our accounting team with a focus on driving high-impact projects and process improvements. In this role, you'll go beyond routine accounting work—leading project deliverables, implementing automation, optimizing workflows, and partnering across the business to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant financial outcomes.
You'll serve as a key contributor on initiatives ranging from new system implementations to product launches and process redesigns, all while mentoring other team members and providing subject matter expertise. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who thrives on solving problems, embracing change, and delivering meaningful results.
Responsibilities
- Lead project accounting initiatives by compiling, analyzing, and interpreting financial data for strategic decision-making.
- Drive process enhancements and automation within the monthly close and general ledger workflows.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure accounting requirements are met for major business initiatives, system changes, and product rollouts.
- Develop, test, and implement new accounting procedures, tools, and templates to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.
- Oversee system testing and validation for new accounting software features and automation tools, ensuring smooth adoption and integration.
- Create and maintain detailed process documentation and training materials to support consistent execution.

Implementation or enhancement of systems and tools (e.g., ERP, Planning, and Reporting platforms)
New product or service rolloutsBusiness model changes impacting revenue recognition, expense handling, or intercompany activityOperational workflow changes that impact accounting or reportingReport to Finance leadership for all project work, providing regular updates, coordinating deliverables, and aligning with strategic finance goals.Support and lead project workstreams by conducting financial impact assessments, performing UAT, documenting accounting processes, and ensuring proper controls are built into new workflows.Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, Finance, Operations, and external vendors to support data mapping, system design, and process optimization efforts.Use automation and analytical tools such as Power BI, Power Automate, and advanced Excel to improve efficiency in accounting and reporting processes.Prepare or review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports prepared by others, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.Collaboration & Leadership
Serve as a subject matter expert for project-based accounting work.Mentor and guide team members, offering feedback and support on project deliverables.Partner with the Accounting Manager and Finance leadership to align project outcomes with strategic goals.Support external audit and internal review processes by providing clear, accurate, and well-organized project-related financial information.Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages knowledge sharing, process ownership, and cross-training.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred or actively pursuing.Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including demonstrated involvement in cross-functional or project-based work.Deep knowledge of GAAP and statutory financial statement preparation, including experience with month-end close and reconciliations.Experience supporting financial audits and regulatory reporting, with strong documentation and compliance awareness.Strong working knowledge of finance systems and ability to participate in system upgrades or implementations.Proficiency in tools such as Power BI, Power Automate, or Excel (including Power Query, PivotTables, and macros) for data analysis and automation.Ability to evaluate and improve financial processes, identify gaps or risks, and implement sustainable solutions.Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across finance, operations, and IT teams.Ability to manage and prioritize both recurring accounting duties and project deliverables.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
