Description

The Maintenance Mechanics maintains the safe operation and maintenance of building facilities electrical and mechanical systems and plumbing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Reads and interprets blueprints drawings schematics and written technical documents of general machineries to locate area of trouble and complete repairs accurately.
  • Repairs and adjusts doors windows closures panic devices and locks.
  • Patches holes installs escutcheons repairs ceiling and floor tile as needed to maintain building appearance.
  • Makes minor masonry and wood repairs.
  • Installs pictures coat hooks other wall hung furnishings and equipment as requested.
  • Responsible for operating and maintaining specific equipment conducting surveys and inventories performing preventive maintenance activities responding to customer complaints and repairing equipment.
  • May perform daily chemical tests on water systems and adjust chemical mixtures and feed rates.
  • Is responsible for conducting surveys and inventories of buildings and equipment.
  • Enters data into computer systems and databases.
  • Maintains records and files; interprets applicable regulations and filing and auditing policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulations policies and procedures.
  • Practices all applicable safety regulations and uses personal protective equipment as required.
  • Responds to customer requests and complaints in a timely and appropriate manner; identifies and records need or problem and determines best approach to resolve situation following departmental guidelines.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • A high school diploma and two years of experience in building maintenance OR an equivalent combination of education training and experience.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC plumbing electrical structural and general carpentry.
  • Working knowledge of computer or mobile applications.
  • Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia drivers license and an insurable driving record.
  • Some positions within this classification may require the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend stoop twist climb a ladder and walk for distances up to one mile.
  • NOTE : Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
