About The Position
Barton Associates is seeking a highly qualified Pathologist for a locum tenens Medical Director position at a Laboratory / Diagnostic Center in Rhode Island. This comprehensive opportunity offers coverage starting 07 / 07 / 2025, for an initial contract of 120 days, with potential for extension. The assignment involves working Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, overseeing a two-hospital system. The ideal candidate should be fellowship-trained or experienced in Hematopathology, AP / CP Board Certified, and possess strong general pathology skills. This role requires excellent communication abilities and the flexibility to manage diverse pathology cases. As Medical Director, the physician will lead the pathology team, ensuring high-quality diagnostic services across the hospital system.

Responsibilities and Duties :
- Serve as Medical Director for a two-hospital system's pathology department
- Perform surgical pathology and hematopathology diagnoses
- Oversee and manage clinical laboratory operations
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and quality standards
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Provide expert consultation to clinicians on complex cases
- Implement and maintain quality assurance programs
- Supervise and mentor pathology staff and residents
- Participate in tumor boards and clinical conferences
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records using Epic EHR system
- Contribute to continuous improvement of pathology services
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in pathology and laboratory medicine
