Substitute - Youth Development Specialist

TITLE : SubstituteYouth Development Specialist (non-exempt)

DEPARTMENT : Programs

REPORTS TO : Site Director or Unit Director

PRIMARY FUNCTION :

This is an on-call, hourly position and staff has the opportunity to work at various locations.

Substitute YDS implements and supervises activities provided within a specific program area such as; Character and Leadership Development, Education and Career Development, Health and Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports, and Fitness and Recreation.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

1. May participate in special programs and / or events.

2. May be required to drive a Club van.

RELATIONSHIPS :

Internal : Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive / provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines / instructions; instruct; and advise / counsel.

External : Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED :

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT :

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, carts, sports equipment, etc. and reach overhead. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and multi task. The job requires about 85% walking and / or standing, and 15% sitting. This position will be in-person working at a school site. Exposure to noise. Will work inside and outside.
