Position Overview We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations at our Surprise, AZ, extrusion and fabrication plant. This role will oversee the maintenance department, ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of extrusion and fabrication equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in extrusion, automation, and mechanical systems, along with the leadership skills to develop and retain a high-performing team. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the maintenance team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and respect.
- Manage maintenance operations for extrusion and fabrication lines, including preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Support capital improvement projects including installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Responsible for overseeing facility maintenance including HVAC, water systems and electrical distribution.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems as needed.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with equipment vendors and OEMs (Agripak, Apstar, Bobst, Conair, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with local and federal environmental regulations, safety protocols and maintain OSHA readiness.
- Collaborate with operations leadership to minimize downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Support ongoing ERP implementation (Acumatica) by aligning maintenance tracking and work order systems.
- Partner with engineering and operations teams on continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage departmental budgets, spare parts inventory, and vendor relationships. Our Ideal Candidate would have :
- 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in plastics manufacturing, ideally with extrusion systems.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting ability.
- Experience managing vendor relationships and capital equipment.
- Proven ability to lead and develop skilled maintenance technicians.
- Solid understanding of preventive maintenance systems, root cause analysis, and reliability principles.
- Strong safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices.
- Flexibility to work across time zones with global vendors as needed. Pluses :
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, industrial technology, or related field.
- Background in automation and PLC systems (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
- Experience in high-temperature processing (plastics, glass, aluminum, etc.).
- Familiarity with ERP systems and data-driven maintenance programs.
