Job description

SUMMARY : Responsible for Operation, Replacement, Repair and Maintenance of building related mechanical, electrical, control systems, plumbing, air handling units, pumps, heat exchangers, expansion joints, and other building mechanical systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following, (other duties may be assigned) :

  • Receives and responds to service calls
  • Takes immediate action to resolve emergency situations or system breakdowns
  • Ensures all preventive maintenance is completed and necessary repairs are made as needed
  • Ensures that work area / plant is always clean, safe, and that managed / generated utilities meet delivery specifications.
  • Oversees assigned utility mechanics and contractors performing routine and preventive maintenance work to ensure work is performed appropriately and in a safe manner
  • Communicates with EMCOR and Customer operations management teams, tenants / utility system end users, and Business Unit Stakeholders.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :

Prior Building Engineer experience is required.

COMPUTER SKILLS :

Basic Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Web, and other computer knowledge.

LANGUAGE ABILITY :

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively speak and understand English.

MATH ABILITY :

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in liquid units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY :

Ability to solve practical problems related to the job. Ability to follow both written and oral instructions from managers and supervisors. Must be able to demonstrate correct use of chemicals, supplies and tools assigned. Must be able to operate mechanical equipment, once trained, and detect equipment malfunctions.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES :

No certifications needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

This job assists in providing supervision of HVAC staff.
