Overview
Senior Financial Improvement Management Consultant - Public Sector, Defense. BD&O is seeking a senior manager level professional to support project delivery activities for US Defense agencies. The role provides financial improvement, transformation, and audit support to improve the completeness, accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of a federal agency's financial data in support of achieving an unmodified audit opinion. The role partners with senior leaders to lead or manage business development, practice development, and project delivery activities, along with day-to-day client delivery and relationships on Public Sector engagements. May involve direct supervision of staff and performance management.

Responsibilities
- Execute day-to-day client duties, providing subject matter expertise and technical acumen to support audit response and remediation objectives across scope areas such as : audit facilitation, remediation strategy, risk management, financial management policy, FFMIA compliance, system transformation, and capability modernization.
- Provide guidance in team operations in line with client project requirements; may supervise staff, deliverables, or tasks.
- Coordinate with engagement team management and client leadership on strategy, planning, execution, status, and review processes.
- Deliver professional Federal accounting and auditing solutions and change management support to progress toward an unmodified audit opinion, including :
- Audit response and liaison with external auditors; leading or supporting walkthroughs and on-site testing; financial audit program strategy, integration, and reporting
- Developing and implementing corrective actions and best practices to resolve audit findings; advising on system capabilities to support improvements
- Collaborating with client stakeholders to understand needs and solve complex financial issues
- Providing training, change management, and communications support for audit readiness and sustainment
- Documenting risk assessments, processes, controls, and supporting testing; addressing identified gaps
- Assisting with accounting and financial reporting operations, standardization, analysis, and data requests
- Researching accounting standards and advising on posting logic; assessing compliance with FFMIA and control frameworks
- Leading transformation efforts from legacy to modernized solutions to meet audit requirements
- Developing reports, dashboards, and status updates; preparing presentations for client meetings
- Contributing to deliverables, metrics, and trainings; ensuring technical accuracy and client value
- Manage priorities and multi-task across engagements; maintain client relationships and effective status reporting
- Assist with business development and opportunity capture; participate in proposals or RFI responses
- Attend trainings and industry events to stay current and expand professional network
- Support recruiting efforts and potentially act as a hiring manager for opportunities

Qualifications
Education : Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration / Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related fieldExperience : Ten (10) or more years in Federal financial management; four (4) or more years in Federal accounting; experience with FIAR, USSGL, FASAB, CFO Act, FMFIA / FFMIA / ICOFR / GAGAS; DoD financial management policies and procedures preferredSecurity clearance : Minimum active Secret levelCertifications : CPA, CISA, CGFM, or CDFM requiredSoftware : Proficient in Microsoft Office; SAP-based platforms and audit-response tools are preferredOther : Willingness to travel as needed; ability to work independently and in a team; strong communication and leadership skillsBenefits and Additional Information
