About The Position

Must-Have : Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a similar size emergency department and successful completion of at least 1 previous travel assignment.

Description :

Unit opens October 1.

ASAP starts highly preferred.

Patient-to-nurse ratio is 1 : 4-5, adjusted for acuity.

Contracts will go through January 10.

Travelers must work 2 of the following 3 holidays : Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve or Day, New Year’s Eve or Day.

Common diagnoses include cardiac, neuro, orthopedic, and critical care patients.

ED physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners are available.

The charge nurse does not take an assignment.

Paramedics and patient care technicians assist on the unit.

Respiratory therapy is available 24 / 7 but is not housed in the emergency department.

They respond quickly and complete ABGs and breathing treatments upon request.

RNs are required to read their own telemetry strips and save them into the chart.

X-ray and CT services are available within the emergency department with their own techs for transport.

No phlebotomy services are available; RNs will draw labs.

Self-scheduling is available when the schedule is open, balanced to meet department needs.

Weekend requirements include at least 6 weekend days / nights in a 6-week schedule, equivalent to every other weekend.

Holiday requirements are based on department needs.

There is no call or standby requirement.

There are no floating requirements.

The dress code includes navy scrubs.

Department-specific orientation occurs during the first week of the contract.

Cancellation policy allows for 2 shifts per assignment.

Charting system used is MEDITECH - 6.1.

BSN is not required.

Trauma level is unspecified.

Care setting is acute.
