Tenure-track Assistant Professor

The Institute of Optics, University of Rochester (UR), seeks tenure-track assistant professor candidates for the Zuegel Family Professorship in laser science. Candidates should have a PhD in optics, photonics, optical engineering, physics, or a related discipline. All areas of laser science will be considered, with special consideration for candidates who are able to collaborate with UR's Laboratory for Laser Energetics. The successful candidate will be expected to build an independent research group, teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and participate in the national and international community of optics, photonics and laser science.

Founded in 1929, The Institute of Optics is the first academic Optics program in the U.S. It offers B.S. degrees in Optics and in Optical Engineering, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Optics, with over 350 students currently enrolled. Institute faculty have collaborative opportunities with research centers such as the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, the Center for Visual Science, the Center for High Energy Density Physics, the Center for Freeform Optics, AIM Photonics as well as departments within UR's adjacent Medical Center.
