JOB TITLE : CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Patient Care Requirements :

• Identifies special resident problems and changes in condition of resident and report them immediately to Charge Nurse.
• Bathes, neatly dresses (in their own clothing) and undresses residents.
• Grooms resident including shaving, hair and fingernail care.
• Accurately records percentage of resident food and fluid intake.
• Feeds resident according to care plan. Monitors meal tray.
• Answers call light.
• Delivers and removes trays.
• Pulls up side rails and rolls beds down.
• Changes incontinent residents.
• Takes residents to bathroom every two hours and as requested.
• Makes sure all residents are offered nourishment as assigned.
• Completes tub baths, showers or bed baths.
• Turns and repositions all bed and chair residents every two hours including pulling up in bed.
• Empties and records all urinary drainage units.
• Applies restorative devices such as splints, handrails, braces, eyeglasses and hearing aids.
• Utilizes techniques to manage physically and verbally abusive residents.
• Monitors and redirects confused wandering residents.
• Assists nurse with treatment procedures.
• Changes bed linens on occupied and unoccupied beds.
• Performs oral hygiene and denture care for residents.
• Takes records and reports temperature, pulse, respiration rate and blood pressure.
• Takes records and reports weights of residents.
• Accurately uses different types of scales i.e. chair, hoyer, stand-up.
• Performs routine foot care.
• Applies creams and lotions to prevent skin breakdown, including back rubs.
• Inspects resident skin condition with daily care and reports to the charge nurse.
• Transfers the resident from bed to chair and chair to bed.
• Assists resident with use of bedpan or urinal.
• Provides perineal care to male and female residents.
