The Psychiatrist will be responsible for assessing patients, diagnosing or ruling out mental disorders, prescribing treatments and conducting regular follow-up appointments to monitor the patient's progress. The Psychiatrist will provide behavioral health treatment for a wide-variety psychiatric disorders and help with all aspects of patient care including diagnosis, treatment, collaboration and consultations. Psychiatrist Responsibilities : -Assessing patients through interviews, observations, tests and medical history reviews.-Diagnosing patients accurately.-Developing comprehensive treatment plans and prescribing medication as needed.-Consulting with other medical professionals and psychologists.-Regularly following up with the patient to check progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed.-Thoroughly documenting each patient's diagnosis, symptoms, medication, treatment effectiveness, etc.-Providing patient with emotional support and strategies to help manage their disorder.-Researching new developments in psychiatry and mental health.-Provides coverage for other providers after hours or when away. -Complies with applicable policies and procedures and supports the Compliance Program.-Contributes to organizational operations by performing other duties as may be required. Qualifications -Completion of a Psychiatric Residency or a Family Medicine / Psychiatry Residency in an ACGME approved residency program-Valid NY state medical license as MD or DO-Valid DEA certificate-Active NY DEA Registration-2 years' experience working full-time as a psychiatrist in child / adult psychiatry-Willing to work with children, a plus-Board of Psychiatry certification-Excellent verbal and written communication-Superior listening ability and emotional intelligence-Expert diagnostic skills-Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations-Ability to establish / maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, and other members of the health care team
