Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry position in acute care, requiring a CA RN license and strong cardiac rhythm interpretation skills.
Responsibilities
Work in a 32-bed private room Telemetry unit within an acute care hospitalPatient population includes acute and chronic medical conditions, post-surgical (bariatrics, total joints), stroke patients, urology, GYN, podiatry, general surgery, and potential oncology casesNurse to patient ratio is 1 : 4 for telemetry and 1 : 5 for MedSurg, with mixed teams maintaining a 1 : 4 ratioNon-titratable drips with set rate Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Heparin; RNs are required to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms using GE monitorsShift is 12 hours, day shift (7a–7 : 30p), with every other weekend required and first to float expectationsTravelers are the first to float and may float to other MS Tele units, ICU for MedSurg Tele patients, or ER for holds, and to a nearby campus located 6.5 miles awayUses Cerner EMR; experience preferred but not requiredNo on-call requirement, but may be placed on standby for low census with a 30-minute response time if called inResponsibilities include bedside shift report, intentional hourly rounding, and patient medication education including side effectsStrict adherence to evidence-based practices and patient safety is enforcedWarm and supportive team environment with structured support from house supervisors, nurse managers, and charge or break nursesOne to two shifts of orientation provided with a preceptorScrub color is navy blue, including undershirts and jackets; hoodies and sweatshirts are not permittedAt least four weekend shifts are required in a four-week scheduleHoliday coverage requirement includes a minimum of one major and one minor holidayVery strict attendance policy; punctuality is requiredRequirements
Active CA RN license required at the time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedCurrent BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredMinimum of 2 years RN experience with telemetry patient populationAbility to read and interpret all cardiac rhythmsComfort with a fast-paced environment and frequent surgical admits / dischargesCerner EMR experience preferredCopy of driver’s license required for considerationTwo professional references required : one supervisor reference from the last 12 months, and one peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 yearsBenefits
