Help You will read and interpret manufacturer's directions to the mixture, use, and methods of application. You will prepare chemical solutions for degreasing, acid etching, coatings, anodizing and phosphatizing of all types of metal surfaces including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, brass, wood and plastics. You will comply with all environmental and safety personal protective equipment requirements. You will safeguard surface coating integrity.
Requirements Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. Incumbent may be required to work aboard surface vessels while underway on trial runs or regular operations. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and / or unusual duty hours may be required.
Qualifications Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision including : Applying "Fast Clad" ultra-high solids / paint coating substance to a variety of surfaces on submarines, ships, barges, and / or cranes. Using a variety of tools of the trade, such as scrapers, sanders, brushes, rollers, paint spray guns, paint pots, thickness gauges, etc. to perform duties. Skills in the utilization of methods for surface preservation to include abrasive blasting and powder coating.
