The Impact You'll Have :
Alliant Engineering has a fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Traffic & ITS Engineer to join our newly established, beautiful Tampa office! You will have the ability to work with a talented team to conduct traffic signal operations analyses, traffic impact studies, assist with signal timing projects, complete traffic signal design and participate in other transportation related projects.
Responsibilities :
- Support traffic engineering studies including traffic impact analyses, signal warrant analyses, and corridor studies
- Assist in traffic operations modeling and capacity analyses using Synchro / SimTraffic and Highway Capacity Manual methodologies
- Support ITS System Engineering projects, completing system reviews, documenting client needs and developing sections of Concept of Operations and requirements
- Support Acceptance Testing for ITS projects, completing field reviews and other system documentation
- Use GIS to summarize traffic signal system inventories
- Use CAD to prepare plans for ITS and traffic signal system upgrades
- Support traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking plans, and temporary traffic control plans
- Perform data collection, analysis, and interpretation for various transportation projects
- Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, and public agency staff to support project delivery
- Participate in site visits and field reviews for traffic engineering evaluations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on transportation planning and engineering projects
- Continue professional growth through training, mentorship, and development opportunities
Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field0-4 years of experience in Traffic and Transportation EngineeringExcellent analytical and problem-solving capabilitiesSkilled ability to be organized and adept in managing competing prioritiesExceptional technical, written, and oral communication competencesExperience with GISPreferred Qualifications :
Strong familiarity with traffic operations software such as Synchro / SimTraffic, Highway Capacity Manual, and VISSIMSignal Timing and Signal Controller proficiencyTraffic signal design experienceRoadway signing and pavement marking knowledgeIMSA traffic Signal Field Technician II certificationWorking knowledge of MicroStation and AutoCADBenefits :
