About The Job

As a SLED (State and Local Government and Education) Account Executive, you will be building and leading SAS's sales strategy in Iowa and Minnesota government and education accounts. The Account Executive will work with State government and education leaders to identify and pursue opportunities where SAS's portfolio of analytics and big data solutions can be aligned to key priorities, leveraging data to improve outcomes, operational efficiency and mission critical capabilities with unparalleled insights.

As a State and Local Government Account Executive focused, you will:

  • Sell software, solutions and services to current and prospective customers in a variety of subject matter areas; works with other sales personnel to position and leverage sales opportunities to acquire, grow and retain customers within assigned territory.
  • Manage broad base of existing customers focused on superior customer service and customer retention
  • Fulfill wide range of requests for information from prospective customers. Qualifies level of opportunity and type of account.
  • Prospect within a territory or account to uncover business needs.
  • Implement aspects of territory and account management and development; identifies accounts with high "close" potential, qualifies, and forecast time frames to close business.
  • Follow-up with customers to track satisfaction levels and to discover additional revenue opportunities.
  • Develop a basic understanding of company pricing and licensing procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Business, Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Superb communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Iowa State and Local Government, or selling software solutions to State and Local Government.
  • 5 years of sales experience.
  • Previous experience selling in State and Local Government.
  • Experience with state procurement rules.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate account dynamics, develop a sales plan, and accurately forecast.
  • Effective and polished communicator capable of engaging audiences of varying levels, including
  • C-level customers
