Job Title: Piping Project Engineer
Job Description
This position is responsible for developing piping system designs that meet code, contract, and schedule requirements for Gas Turbine power projects in the Americas. The role requires interpreting and responding to piping technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel with minimal supervision and integrating design requirements from the parent company.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the parent company to establish timelines and obtain critical documents.
- Expedite subcontractors with respect to engineering and manufacturing matters through the purchasing department.
- Review project contracts, schedules, and requirements to determine piping requirements, deliverables, and deadlines.
- Participate in project kick-off meetings and develop/maintain master document lists for the piping group.
- Review isometrics and other piping-related mechanical drawings with minimal supervision.
- Review P&IDs and equipment drawings against piping drawings.
- Prepare piping component lists using P&IDs and reports from 3D models.
- Extract reports from piping 3D models (SP3D).
- Establish corrective actions to reduce nonconformance and improve quality.
- Perform piping designs and understand piping design philosophy.
- Understand pipe stress analysis and pipe supports.
- Prepare inquiry and purchase specifications for piping fabrication, pipe supports, piping hardware, and special elements in piping systems.
- Develop processes and procedures for optimized resource use while providing high-quality design packages.
- Interface with EPC contractor, customer, parent, and affiliated companies in meetings to ensure understanding of engineering matters.
- Request, receive, and handle indispensable technical information for the project from subcontractors.
- Follow up and resolve pending items during or after project completion up to warranty expiration.
- Assist the Application Engineering Group in reviewing and evaluating customer specifications.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of company information.
- Perform multi-tasks and multidisciplinary communication.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of five years and maximum of ten years of directly related technical experience.
- Experience in purchasing piping materials and preparing technical piping specifications.
- Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and track project schedules, requirements, and deadlines.
- Proficiency in piping design or pipe stress analysis.
- Understanding of B31.1 and B31.3 codes.
- Experience in procurement of piping materials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Engineering.
- . license.
- Knowledge of 3D modeling software packages (particularly SP3D).
- Familiarity with Section II, PCC, MSS-SP, and PFI Codes.
- Familiarity with welding and NDE processes.
Work Environment
The Lake Mary office serves as the North American HQ for Plant Engineering. It is a multi-disciplinary office including Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Controls, and Project Management with approximately 100+ personnel. The role may involve a possibility to convert to a full-time opportunity after initial contract work. The work involves interfacing with stress analysis and design groups and conducting interviews with technical questions.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
