DUTIES
Follow all corporate and job site safety proceduresMaintain equipment by cleaning, completing preventative maintenance and performing calibrationsAssemble and set-up necessary equipment at project siteCoordinate field work for a variety of standard types of surveys, under the direction of the Crew ChiefPerform survey activities including, but not limited to, leveling, traversing, triangulation, metes and bounds surveys, construction surveys and photo control surveysKnowledge of operation, checking and basic field adjustments on transits, total stations, total electronic stations, data collectors, levels, and tripodsPerform physical tasks such as line clearing, pounding stakes, setting monuments, and locating critical underground objectsKnowledgeable of trigonometry, geometry, algebra, coordinate geometry, and basic surveying computationsDemonstrate lot, area, and intersection computationsKnowledge of the reduction and checking of field notes for positions and elevationsKnow basic sources of measurement errorsKnow principles of staking and markingEnter field data and produce positional information with hand-held calculatorInterpret control point records and data sheets, and locate points in the fieldUnderstand basic plan reading and preparation (site plans, boundary plans, highway plans, profile and cross sections, horizontal and vertical curves, pipeline plans, foundation plans, and developing contours)Basic knowledge of conventional drafting terminologyKnowledgeable of surveying ethics and technical standardsRecord field notes legibly and accurately for standard surveying operationsCommunicate effectively with crew members and other survey staffStrive to make each project profitableQualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalentAdditional courses in mathematics and surveying preferredExperience
Previous survey or survey-related experience preferredAdditional Requirements
Must possess a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicleMust possess the ability to read, write and perform basic mathMust be comfortable communicating with the publicMust be comfortable with regular use of email, internet and basic Microsoft Office applicationsMust be available to work in all types of indoor and outdoor environmentsWork is performed under all weather conditions, often on busy streets or construction sites, involves extensive standing and walking, and includes clearing brush, working in difficult terrain, manholes and on difficult slopes. May be required to push, pull, lift, and / or carry up to 50 pounds. Occasional office work may be required.
