The Commercial Insurance Agent program gives motivated candidates the chance to build their own business while partnering with established Farmers agents to drive Business Insurance growth. As a Commercial Insurance Agent, you'll operate within a supportive network, offering valuable coverage options to business owners and benefiting from the strong relationships that Farmers agents already have with their customers.
You'll have the flexibility to specialize in specific industries, like contractors or restaurants, or work broadly across all markets where Farmers provides coverage. Your sales expertise, relationship-building skills, and entrepreneurial mindset will fuel your success while adding measurable value to your business and to the agencies you support, working hand-in-hand with other Farmers agents creates a smoother workflow and better customer experience. With more efficient processes, you'll spend less time bogged down in tasks and more time on what matters most : selling, building lasting relationships, and growing your business.
As a Commercial Insurance Agent, you will have the opportunity to :
- Build and manage your own commercial insurance book of business
- Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with Farmers agents
- Concierge Underwriting Support to help with identifying, quoting and closing on preferred business

Responsibilities
Identify and secure new business clients through networking, referrals, and proactive outreachEvaluate risks and deliver tailored commercial insurance solutionsPresent and sell a full suite of products, including General Liability, Commercial Property, Workers Compensation, Commercial Auto, and moreBuild trusted, consultative relationships with business owners and key decision-makersManage a strong pipeline of leads and consistently close new business opportunitiesDeliver outstanding service and account management to retain and expand client relationshipsStay informed on underwriting guidelines, market trends, and competitor offeringsConsistently achieve and surpass monthly sales goals and performance benchmarksRequirements
Active Michigan Property & Casualty insurance license (required)Prior insurance industry experience (required)Current Michigan residency (required)Minimum of 1 year of customer-facing sales experience in insuranceAbility to pass a background check per Farmers guidelines, policies, and proceduresStrong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build lasting client relationshipsProven track record of meeting or exceeding sales goalsSelf-motivated with strong organizational and time-management skillsComfortable working independently while also collaborating with a teamBasic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new technology platformsHigh school diploma or equivalent (Bachelors degree in business, finance, or a related field preferred)
