The Public Health Specialist I will assist and provide support to BOHIP's Program staff, local, state, and not-for-profit organizations to utilize data in prioritizing injury prevention programs throughout New York State.

The Public Health Specialist I will assist and provide support to subject matter experts to promote and disseminate BOHIP's preventive messaging to high-risk, underserved, and marginalized populations. The incumbent will assist with outreach by promoting BOHIP's materials at meaningful engagements in targeted communities.

This meaningful work will contribute towards increasing public awareness to help reduce injuries and deaths in New York State.

This position will be part of a dynamic team whose mission is to build a safer, and sustainable New York. Come be part of the injury prevention team!

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in a related field; OR an Associates degree in a related field and two years of experience in a public health, human services or health related program / organization field; OR four years of such experience.

A valid driver's license in good standing is required for areas not served by public transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related Social Science, Health Science, or Epidemiology. Demonstrated, strong written and oral communication, skills. Demonstrated, strong organizational skills with attention to detail, handling multiple tasks, and activities. Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Conditions of Employment

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Travel, 25%-50% of the time, will be required. A valid driver's license in good standing is required for areas not served by public transportation.

The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states : New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire. Telecommuting will be available.
