Description :

The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities.

Prevention of illness and injury is a priority.

The alleviation of suffering through diagnosis and treatment of human response is essential.

Advocacy in the care of individuals and families is a key responsibility.

The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development.

Responsibilities are in accordance with nursing practice acts and professional policies.

A caring and healing environment for patient-centered care is promoted.

The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care.

Management of a group of patients is conducted while serving as a primary nurse or accountable nurse.

Education of patients and families in health promotion and disease management is provided using available resources.

A working knowledge of pharmacology is utilized to safely administer medications.

The RN shares responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization.

Compliance with all nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements is required.

Active participation in professional development and continuing nursing education is expected.

Integration of nursing research and current evidence into practice is encouraged.

A supportive learning environment for new employees and students is established.

Duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role may be performed when assigned.

Additional responsibilities may be assumed as required.
