• Graduate from an approved school / college of nursing\n
• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse license in the State of Nebraska\n
• Basic Life Support (BLS)\n
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)\n
• Bachelors degree in nursing preferred\n

• Will have access to confidential information abiding by the organizations privacy policies and regulations concerning this information.\n\nEssential Job Duties and Responsibilities\n\n1. Utilizes the nursing process, for the performance of patient care, to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care to achieve prioritized patient outcomes.\n
• Performs complete admission assessment, including full body system analysis and home med reconciliation process for med-surgical, obstetrical, newborn, pediatric, ER and outpatients.\n
• Performs patient rounding for all patient assignments.\n
• Performs patient / family teaching for assessed knowledge deficits.\n
• Evaluates patient progress toward desired outcomes prior to discharge.\n
• Demonstrates personal accountability in the delivery of patient care in a competent, professional and compassionate manner.\n\n2. Provides patient care supervision.\n
• Effectively oversees care delivery and staffing needs and assignments on the nursing unit.\n
• Provides secure pharmacy coverage during hours pharmacy is not staffed.\n
• Demonstrates knowledge of treatments, policies / procedures, and equipment related to med / surg, obstetrical / newborn care, emergency room and OP care and monitored beds.\n
• Demonstrates team leadership skills by effectively organizing and assigning shift work load to accommodate patient needs and provide safe patient care.\n\n3. Performs and maintains documentation.\n
• Documents accurate and ongoing assessments of patient status that reflect nursing interventions, patient responses, patient teaching and status of outcomes at discharge.\n
• Completes shift end check with another nurse prior to leaving duty.\n\n4. Communicates effectively.\n
• Communicates and collaborates effectively with other health team members regarding patient condition, nursing plan of care, patient satisfactions needs and recommendations for meeting identified outcomes.\n
• Follows approved shift report format when communicating patient information.\n
• Identifies and recognizes abnormal symptoms / changes in patient condition, established priorities, and takes appropriate action. Appropriately reports condition changes to medical provider.\n\n5. Promotes and ensures patient safety in performance of all responsibilities.\n
• Administers medications, treatments and procedures in a timely and safe manner according to physician orders and nursing policy.\n
• Demonstrates proficient technical / clinical skills and operational knowledge of equipment on unit.\n
• Informs and involves DON regarding patient care issues in a timely and appropriate manner.\n
• Utilizes proper body mechanics, transfer / lifting techniques and appropriate equipment to minimize fall risk to patient and injury to self.\n\n6. Follows HIPAA regulations and ensures that the confidentiality of patients medical, personal, financial records, employee records, and organizational records is maintained.\n\n7. Participates in FCH committees, quality assurance, performance and quality improvement initiatives, and activities which support the facility and department operations.\n\n8. Complies with the state and federal regulatory requirements related to the performance of FCH operations and requirements of the FCH Compliance Program. Including but not limited to : \n
• The Compliance Policy.\n
• Completes all on-line training annually and as assigned.\n
• All department and organization-wide policies.\n
• Considers the impact of regulations such as Critical Access Hospital requirements, along with Federal and State of Nebraska regulations and discusses concerns appropriately to ensure compliance.\n\n9.
