Community Builders began in the summer of 2017 with the idea of making volunteering more accessible. Our website hosts a variety of needs from many different causes from over 90 organizations across Monterey where people can search online to match their interests to a need or contact us directly.

Our volunteers manage much of our outreach through social media, newsletters and other digital communication. We are a hub that continually updates our knowledge on local needs, issues and opportunities to best inform and engage community members to "do good." CBMC is specifically working with environmental groups, developing a program to reduce isolation through volunteerism and implementing a new outreach effort based on issues education for social impact.

Are you a sociable, self-motivated and enthusiastic individual looking for an opportunity to expand on your social media skills? We at Community builders for Monterey County are looking for someone that can help us boost our social media presence. This opportunity is for someone who is creative and will have fun administering our social media accounts, channels, to promote volunteer and community engagement to meet local needs.

In this role, your main duties will be

  • Join our social media team to create post content across various platforms to help us build our reach.
  • Promote and amplify the call for volunteers across a variety of causes and organizations
  • Champion the spirit of civic and community engagement
  • Support the broader communications and outreach team with other tasks as needed

Ideally, You Will Need The Following Skills

  • Prior experience preferred with Instagram and Facebook
  • Self-motivated and organized
  • Willing to work with team and also able to work independently
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for social media and outreach
