Job Description
Client Account Work
- Play a lead day-to-day role in the planning and execution of all facets of work conducted on behalf of clients
- Generate and proactively deliver novel and high impact creative counsel that achieves client goals
- Develop communications frameworks, plans, messages and materials (with support from Senior Account Executives, Account Executives, Assistant Account Executives and Interns, as appropriate)
- Review and provide constructive input to written materials produced by Senior Account Executives, Account Executives, Assistant Account Executives and Interns (such as press releases, award entries, biographies, etc.) to ensure highest quality work product
- Lead and / or support the execution of various media relations, social media and events
- Pitch high-level media outlets and cultivate relationships with target media / reporters, including local and national business media and trade media (print, broadcast and online)
- Provide guidance to Senior Account Executives, Account Executives, Assistant Account Executives and Interns while coordinating the daily / tactical elements of client account work
- Independently and proactively source and provide account team leads with new ideas / opportunities
- Develop and nurture productive client relationships
- Regularly and efficiently update account team leads (and when necessary, the Senior Management Team) about status of ongoing client account work, including ensuring they are amply informed prior to client calls / meetings
- Provide support, as needed, in managing issues / crises. This includes drafting communications materials addressing the issues / crisis and potentially managing junior staff on media / social media monitoring
- Use AI tools for appropriate work for efficiency and quality, following the guidelines of RP’s policies
- Evaluates AI-generated materials for strategy alignment
- Identifies AI-enabled efficiencies for client work and internal processes
Agency and Staff Development / Management
Mentor junior staff by providing candid, timely and constructive feedback on a regular basisContribute to employee reviews by providing ideas and observations surrounding areas of strength and areas of improvementProactively and professionally surface to the Senior Management Team any performance issues pertaining to Senior Account Executives, Account Executives, Assistant Account Executives and InternsContribute to a positive workplace by identifying ways to recognize the staff outside of formal promotions / pay raisesHelp to identify quality candidates for employment at the firmNew Business Development
Contribute to the development of new business proposals and presentations, including conducting research, contributing to strategy and tactics, and helping to ensure the ultimate quality of the recommendations / proposalWhen appropriate, participate in / present during formal new business pitchesQualifications
The ideal Account Supervisor candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 4+ years of public relations or communications agency experience. Prior agency experience is preferredProven experience executing award-winning, dynamic and unique media relations campaigns across many different sectors that help clients and related stakeholders accomplish their goalsProven experience learning new skills and becoming an expert in a diverse range of tactics and teaching junior staff how to execute with efficiency and delivering resultsProficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)Ability to multi-task and handle multiple accounts simultaneouslyStrong written and verbal communication skillsSolid understanding of core public relations tools and tactics, and how they are usedAdditional Information
