Title : Center Manager Registered NurseFLSA Category : Exempt

Reports To : Director of Quality and Clinical Management

Job Summary :

Responsible for overall supervision of health center operations. Provides and coordinates assistance to patients who request services at the facility. Ensure that the health center’s communication with other program staff and other people involved in the care of the patients is appropriate and timely. Maintain high visibility at assigned centers.

Functions as a clinical resource to ensure that medical services are delivered in a safe and efficient manner, addressing patient needs as expeditiously as possible. The Center Manager Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to assess, diagnose, implement, and evaluate care of patients. The Center Manager Registered Nurse is an integral part of the health care team that collaborates with other health team members and the center manager to facilitate patient care. The Center Manager Registered Nurse also ensures ancillary services are provided as needed. This position may be required to float to other Greater Baden Center locations as needed.

Essential Functions :

  • Manages and coordinates administrative and clinical services for one or more health centers.
  • Provides recommendation for administrative and corrective actions of Clinical Medical Assistants.
  • Provides clinical training to medical assistants and supervises competency evaluations.
  • Provides direct nursing care to patients, including performing assessments, nursing procedures (including injections), and assistance with procedures.
  • Provides in-person and telephone triage for patients seeking medical advice.
  • Provides health teaching and counseling to patients and families. This may include communication of test results, medication changes, diet and lifestyle, etc.
  • Assesses patient requests for same day services and works with Providers and Center Manager to ensure that patient needs are addressed appropriately.
  • Expedites patient flow through the implementation of standing orders or policies for medication refills, referrals, and immunizations. Ensures that clinical medical assistants are familiar with standing order protocols and follow them appropriately.
  • Participates in the immunizations process, including inventory and record keeping. Ensures that vaccines are stored properly. Oversees immunization administration process and educates staff regarding proper technique and current recommendations. Has knowledge of the Vaccines for Children program and assists with compliance.
  • Oversees laboratory services, including review of quality control, oversight of inventory and record keeping. Ensures that supplies are stored properly. Supervises specimen collection process and in-house testing and educates staff regarding proper technique and current recommendations.
  • Participates in the maintenance of medication and medical supply inventory, including monthly expiration process.
  • Assists with providing ongoing clinical education, including competency testing and training consistent with GBMS needs, goals, and objectives.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of the EMR and serves as a clinical resource.
  • Coordination of schedules to provide adequate staffing for clinical hours, approving leave requests, keeping attendance record and notification to administrative office of changes to the master schedule.
  • Establishes work procedures and standards to improve efficiency and effectiveness in center.
  • Works closely with the providers and nurses to assist with patient care, facilitate clinic flow, and insure optimal benefit from each patient visit.
  • Addresses patient and staff concerns and follows up, as appropriate.
  • Oversees and coordinates training of new staff. Works closely with other training staff to be sure new staff have been properly instructed and demonstrates the required competencies.
  • Coordinates the ordering of routine supplies for the center.
  • Promotes a culture of excellence in the provision of leadership.
  • Identifies system breakdowns and initiates appropriate actions and solutions.
  • Evaluates and ensures coordination of efforts to meet compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation programs (i.e. Joint Commission, Patient Centered Medical Home and other quality measures)
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and prepares and maintains statistical records and reports.
  • Provides administrative supervision to include staff scheduling, assignments, cross-coverage and cross-training of staff.
  • Monitors employee performance and conducts performance evaluations at appropriate intervals.
  • Develops and maintains a strong working relationship with other Manager’s and Executive Team members.
  • Manages health center budget ensuring resources are managed to allocated budget.

Nonessential Functions :

  • Participates in team / staff meetings; attends in service meetings and applicable workshops.

    Minimum Qualifications :

  • Current Registered Nursing License in the State of Maryland or compact state required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) or equivalent. Advanced degrees or certifications in Family Medicine or related fields are a plus
  • Insurability (malpractice)
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certificate (CPR) required.
  • Bilingual is a plus
  • Substitutions None

    Work Environment :

    This job operates in an outpatient office environment.

    Physical and Mental Demands :

  • Ability to cope with stress.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with patients and / or employees. Must be able to summarize and exchange accurate information.
  • Must be able to lift or catch patient weighing more than 50 pounds in the event of emergency.
  • Performs with frequent interruption or distractions.
  • Adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
  • Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships to perceive objects where and as they actually are.
  • Cognitive ability to analyze, count, summarize and synthesize information from multiple sources.
  • Language Skills :

    Ability to read and interpret written or verbal documents and instructions. Ability to speak effectively to patients, employees and / or stakeholders of the organization.

    Compliance :

    This position requires compliance with Greater Baden Medical Services (Health Center’s) compliance standards, including its Standards of Conduct, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element considered as part of the Center Registered Nurse regular performance evaluation.

    Travel :

    Must be able to drive between Greater Baden Medical Services, Inc. locations as needed.
