About The Position

Job Title : Scrub Technician

Profession : Technician

Specialty : Surgical Scrub

Duration : 12 weeks

Shift : Day Shift

Hours per Shift : 8 hours

Experience : Minimum 1 year of clinical operating room experience preferred

License : Certified Surgical Technologist required

Certifications : BLS from American Heart Association required.

Must-Have : Current certification in surgical technology through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting required

Description :

To provide safe care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with professional standards.

Constant interaction with internal and external customers including patients, families, physicians, employees, and visitors is essential.

Assists in the coordination of patient care and collaborates with other health team members.

Participates in performance improvement activities.

Acts in a support role during surgical procedures but not as a surgical assistant.

Creates and maintains asepsis while performing scrubbing duties.

Communicates patient information to the appropriate persons.

Accounts for all equipment and supplies used in patient care.

Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills by maintaining adaptability and supporting teamwork.

Resolves problems and consistently meets the department's customer service quality standards.

Performs clinical preceptor role for scrubbing, following the orientation outline and collaborating with the patient care coordinator and educator.

Maintains cleanliness in the unit and cleans equipment as needed.

Responsible for the use and care of equipment utilized during surgical cases.

Performs additional job duties and responsibilities as required.

Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks quickly in a fast-paced environment.

Limited access to medication rooms; medications must not be handled at any time.

Questions should be directed to the supervisor or charge nurse.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting may be required.

Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues is possible along with risk of exposure to infectious materials.

Moderate to high noise levels may be present in the work area.

Requires work under stressful conditions and irregular hours may be necessary.

May be required to take calls and / or work weekends or holidays based on department needs.
