Adjunct Lecturer - Computer Science

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

Position : Adjunct Lecturer

Department : Computer Science

Classification : Part-time, Non-benefit eligible

Brief overview of duties :

Benedictine University is seeking experienced and academically qualified adjunctinstructors to teach 1-3 computer science lecture courses each semester at ourLisle, IL campus.

Common courses include Computer Programming, DataStructures and Algorithms, Object-Oriented Design and Programming, and ComputerArchitecture, though upper-division elective courses may be available dependingon the instructor's expertise.

We especially welcome applicants with experience indata mining / data analytics, AI, machine learning, and web app development, though

all backgrounds will be considered.

RequiredQualifications :

A Master's degree inComputer Science or a closely-related field is required.

Programming experience in Java isrequired; programming experience in Python is highly desired. Priorteaching experience at the high-school and college level is highly desired.

Candidates must be available to teachin-person at our Lisle, IL campus, though some limited opportunities may beoffered to teach online.

PhysicalRequirements : Whileperforming the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talkor hear. The employee frequently is required to stand;

walk; use hands totouch, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

This position requires the ability tooccasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.

Use of computer screen, phone andcustomer service.

May require bending, or sitting for longperiods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include closevision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception andability to adjust focus.

The following of campus specificguidelines for pandemic protocols is required.

Training : As a University employee you arerequired to complete all University-specific and / or OSHA related training tofulfill your job duties.

Specific training will be conducted online or inperson. Employees must complete all trainings required by BenedictineUniversity.
