Job Summary

The responsibilities for this position include the following :

• 40% tutoring enrolled students in the craft of writing (across curriculums); supporting retention, progression, and graduation rates and building career skills
• 20% collaboration on promotional materials, social media, and event planning / execution
• 40% administrative duties (recording and tracking Writing Center data, creating materials for programming / marketing, scheduling, responding to student and faculty requests, etc.)

Graduate Assistants in the University Writing Center not only provide individual tutorials in writing for all undergraduate classes, but also help faculty and staff promote and advertise the Center\u2019s services, collaborate with faculty and staff in creating programming and Writing Center materials, engage student writers in crucial ways through digital and face-to-face interactions, navigate diverse subject matters and communication styles, navigate diverse learning styles, support digital and oral communications, facilitate inter-departmental communication and interaction, support Center faculty in staff in engaging a wide range of academic subject matter, provide peer mentorship, support the goals of Student Services on campus, and emphasize the importance of writing skills as means of growing personally, academically, and professionally.
