Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (ICU RN)

Overview

The Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse provides complex, high-acuity care to critically ill or unstable patients requiring continuous monitoring and advanced life support. The ICU RN delivers evidence-based, compassionate care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, and implement individualized care for critically ill patients.
  • Manage advanced life-support equipment, including ventilators, invasive lines, and vasoactive drips.
  • Monitor hemodynamic status and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition.
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide clear, compassionate communication to patients and families regarding care and treatment.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record.

    • Qualifications

  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • BLS and ACLS required; PALS or TNCC preferred depending on patient population.
  • Minimum two (2) years of recent ICU or critical care experience required.
  • ADN required; BSN preferred.
