GovCIO is excited to invite applications for the position of Kafka Expert to enhance our team supporting the USPS and their CIO Architecture, Strategy & Innovation (CASI) group. This role is critical in translating the corporate business vision and strategy into actionable objectives for developing and maintaining IT systems capabilities. You'll be instrumental in implementing a comprehensive IT roadmap while adapting to the dynamic nature of IT.

Responsibilities
Support the integration of new Kafka clusters and event stream requirements within large-scale enterprise architectures.
Conduct comprehensive design assessments and provide strategic recommendations for the integration of Kafka event streams.
Act as a top-tier support resource by troubleshooting production Kafka streams and software integration issues.
Research and document Kafka ecosystem best practices and strategies for hybrid, multi-cloud high availability.
Create proof of concept activities and prototypes for Kafka technology in controlled environments.
Define and apply standards for the Kafka ecosystem lifecycle and automated implementation strategies.
Develop strategies and roadmaps for expanding Kafka ecosystem integrations and governance.
Conduct strategy compliance reviews related to enterprise Kafka elements, including architecture frameworks and disaster recovery mechanisms.
Manage and query data across both SQL and NoSQL databases.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 20+ years of experience or equivalent expertise.
Required Skills and Experience
Expertise in designing and implementing Kafka event streaming across hybrid multi-cloud environments.
Proven experience creating technical artefacts including architecture assessments and implementation plans centered around Kafka event streams.
Thorough understanding of design principles for Kafka implementations and modern application migration strategies.
In-depth knowledge of Apache Kafka, Confluent Platform, and Confluent Cloud.
Familiarity with Apache Strimzi and Confluent for Kubernetes.
Experience with cloud services that support Kafka compatibility, such as Azure Event Hub and Amazon MSK.
Proficient in using Confluent Schema Registry along with JSON and AVRO serialization.
Experience with Kafka replication options and client APIs.
Knowledgeable in Kafka Connect and various connectors.
Experienced in sizing and capacity planning for Kafka clusters.
Understanding of Kafka topic partitioning strategies.
Additional Requirements :

Show proficiency in Generative AI and prompt engineering.
Display continuous learning and adaptability within a large IT organization.
Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to all stakeholders.
Troubleshoot software implementations within large-scale ecosystems.
Familiar with CI / CD concepts and containerization strategies for Kafka.
Skilled in managing data using various data querying tools.
Proficient in creating technical diagrams, design documents, and presentations.
Clearance Required : US Citizenship or Permanent Residency (Green card) is required to obtain and maintain the Public Trust.
