Responsibilities
- Coordinate recruitment, licensing, and education for foster parents to facilitate intake and placement of refugee and unaccompanied children in out-of-home placements.
- Process intake screenings for prospective foster parents.
- Develop and implement innovative and assertive recruitment techniques for foster parents and minority foster parents.
- Develop and coordinate informative orientations for prospective foster parents.
- Work with prospective foster parents through initial screening and licensing.
- Monitor relicensing of foster homes within the program.
- Review referral information to ensure appropriate placement and coordinate with foster care staff and supervisor as needed.
- Review and audit foster home files to ensure adherence to licensing requirements.
- Serve as a liaison to caseworkers and supervisors for activities with foster homes and the community.
- Ensure licensing, recruitment, and placement practices align with state and federal regulations; inform caseworkers on licensing and placement regulations.
- Communicate rule violations to the caseworker and foster parent promptly and work with them to correct violations through evaluations.
- Assist the Training and Development Coordinator and Recruitment Specialist with activities such as annual recognition events and other retention efforts for foster parents.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field from an accredited college.Master's degree in Human Services or related field from an accredited college preferred.Prior experience in foster care or child welfare is a plus.Demonstrated interviewing, placement, diagnostic, and family assessment skills.Eligible to obtain professional licensure in the applicable state.Ability to relate well with others and work independently with high initiative.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; bilingual preferred.Strong customer service orientation.Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions, including Microsoft Office.Must be 21 years old with a valid driver's license and at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S., to operate a Bethany vehicle; pass MVR check and maintain insurance; reliable vehicle with proof of insurance.Pass a criminal history check, including state and local child protection agency registries.Commitment to the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Unity.Note : This description reflects the essential duties of the role and is not intended to be exhaustive.
