Controls Engineering Manager

Position Overview : We are looking for a Controls Engineering Manager to lead the development of flight control and stabilization systems for VTOL aircraft and gimbal platforms. This role blends hands-on control algorithm design with team leadership , helping scale a growing controls team.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and validate control loops for VTOL and gimbal systems.
  • Implement embedded C++ best practices for real-time systems.
  • Develop hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) simulation environments.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and firmware teams to define interfaces and run tests.
  • Mentor and grow the controls team; lead design reviews and project execution.

Requirements

  • 5+ years designing control algorithms for aerial vehicles, gimbals, or stabilizers.
  • Strong C++ skills for embedded systems (ARM Cortex-M, STM32, or similar).
  • Deep understanding of 3D kinematics, quaternions, coordinate transformations, and sensor fusion.
  • Leadership experience as a technical lead or project owner.

    • Preferred

  • Experience with PX4 flight stack, MAVLink, QGroundControl integration.
  • Proficiency with URDF-based simulation, FreeRTOS / Zephyr, and hardware debugging tools.
