Job description

The purpose of this class is to assume responsibility for general management functions of CCBC's Special Collections & Archives repository website.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as sociology, anthropology, history, library science, computer science, etc. preferred, along with one (1) year of full-time experience working with collection management or exhibits in a library, archives, or cultural heritage organization.
  • Knowledge of archival and library description standards, including DACS, EAD, MARC, and LC.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office software including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and develop cooperative relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Essential Duties :

  • Manage and direct operations of the library's Special Collections and Archives website under the direction of the Collection Development Coordinator.
  • Develop and administer policies and procedures for the content management system.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate part-time staff, volunteers, and interns.
  • Process, file, and organize collection materials, including labeling items, folders, and containers.
  • Manage supplies for processing Special Collections and monitor supply budget.
  • Oversee physical storage of Archives Collections.
  • Coordinate with other departments to enhance repository holdings.
  • Physically accession and deaccession items, including photography, condition reporting, rehousing, and storage.
  • Operate scanning and photography equipment for digitization and metadata creation for preservation.
  • Assist in exhibition and display of materials.
  • Conduct collection inventories and maintenance according to professional standards.
  • Research collection provenance, processes, creators, authenticity, and related data.
