Schedule / Hours : Full-time evening shifts, working 8 or 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with on-call responsibilities primarily overnight (approximately 5-8 call slots and 1-2 weekend call slots within an 8-week schedule). Call requirements necessitate arrival within 30 minutes.
Major Responsibilities :
Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient surgical area while utilizing aseptic techniques in the preparation of materials and equipment for surgical procedures.Assist with a variety of procedures, demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary for optimal patient care.Set up the operating room for each case, ensuring environmental disinfection and safety.Act as a Second Assistant when needed and address any equipment or supply issues promptly.Transport patients and supplies as necessary, and maintain specialty carts for surgical items.Accurately assess and respond to patients' needs based on their age and development stage.Licensure, Registration, and / or Certification Required :
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required within 6 months unless exempt by department leadership.Education Required :
Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.Experience Required :
No prior experience necessary.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required :
Understanding of aseptic techniques and various operating room equipment.Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.Basic computer skills.Commitment to ongoing education to maintain certification standards.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions :
Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.Physical capabilities including lifting up to 50 lbs. and pushing / pulling 30 lbs.Frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and bending throughout the shift.Exposure to potential hazards including mechanical, electrical, chemical, and biological risks, requiring proper protective gear.Must possess functional sight and hearing to perform job duties safely and effectively.This job description outlines the general responsibilities of the position.
